
How to Report Insurance Fraud
If you are the victim of insurance-related fraud or have witnessed or heard something you believe to be related to insurance fraud, there are a few ways to report the information to allow the appropriate authorities to investigate.
Call or visit your local police station (Ottawa Police – 613-236-1222, for crimes in progress or if anyone is in immediate danger call 9-1-1)
Call your local Crime Stoppers organization (National Capital Region – 1-800-222-8477) or visit their website at http://crimestoppers.ca/
Call the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s confidential TIPS Line (open 24 hours a day, seven days a week) 1-877-IBC-TIPS / 1-877-422-8477 or file an anonymous tip using their online tip form
Contact your insurance provider if the fraud may affect an existing insurance policy of yours
